Blueprints or advanced templates differ in many ways from conventional Confluence templates:
Templates are, basically, pages with predefined content. This means that (space) administrators can create templates using the usual Confluence editor.
Blueprints, however, are much more powerful than templates. Namely, because blueprints have much more features. Blueprints enable fast, user-friendly, structured and dynamic page creation. In this regard, they are therefore a step ahead of the templates. And yet templates are used more often. The explanation: Programming skills are a hurdle for blueprints. But you don't have to do without the advantages of blueprints. The Blueprint Creator combines both features.
In short: With this app it is possible to integrate the functions of blueprints into templates. And all this without any programming knowledge. This makes it possible to use the advantages of templates and ignore the disadvantages of blueprints. Similarly, blueprints can of course also be created for spaces and blog entries.
If you want to export or import a Space Blueprint, you will find a solution in our documentation.
As of now it is not possible to export and import placeholders that are used in Space Blueprints. We will be releasing a new version of the Blueprint Creator that will also allow you to include your placeholders in the Space Blueprints.
At the moment it is not possible to convert existing spaces into Space Blueprints. - But we are working on it!
Check out our roadmap to see what else we're working on right now.
