Problem

When connecting to Linchpin Mobile Gateway the 'Domain name system (DNS)' connection test fails due to an error.

Cause

If this tests is failing the java process is not able to perform a domain name resolution request. This request is required to translate domain names to IP addresses. The 'Domain name system (DNS)' connection test fails if there is no DNS available, or a network internal DNS service is used which cannot resolve public IP addresses.


Resolution

Please configure a DNS service on the host(s) running the Confluence server.


Example: On a linux host the DNS is often configured in /etc/resolv.conf. The file content might look similar to this:

nameserver 8.8.4.4
nameserver 8.8.8.8
