Metadata for checklists in Atlassian Jira or Confluence

Metadata is a way to populate checklists with relevant contextual information. It also helps you search and further categorize checklists. Here you can find information about our metadata features.

Location in the checklist

Metadata is located at the top of a checklist. Learn how to add metadata here.

Mandatory or optional

Shows a red asterisk when a user fills it out.

Text only (for now)

Currently, the only metadata field type is text.

Offer suggestions to users (optional)

You can select whether or not you want your metadata field to offer suggestions to your users or not.

Unlimited

You can have as many metadata fields on a checklist as you want.

Placeholder (optional)

When you create a metadata text field, you can have a placeholder value. Users will see this when they fill the checklist out.

Preset value (optional)

You can also populate a preset value which users will see when they fill a checklist out.

Planned enhancements

  • Ability to filter in checklist list for metadata (tick)
  • Search for checklist content and metadata
  • Erase suggestions from the dropdown menu easily

Use cases

  • Cleaning a hotel room
If you have a checklist for cleaning a hotel room, metadata could ask for the cleaner, the location of the hotel, and the room number.
  • If you're running a test in a pharmaceutical company, you may have information about the product, the specimen number, and the category.
  • Food safety under HACCP
  • Software deployments with version numbers, test people, ...
  • Onboarding- and Offboarding-Checklists in HR
