Linchpin Hack
It's possible to share news created in Linchpin via MS Teams. Check out our Linchpin Hack for this below. Please note the following Linchpin Hack is currently only available in German 🇩🇪.
How does the MS Teams integration work?
You can set up an automatic sync between Linchpin and MS Teams using a webhook.
When a news article is published in your Linchpin intranet, a news teaser will be automatically sent to a configured MS Teams channel.
Permissions
Please be aware of the fact that we do not check the permissions when news are pushed to MS Teams. This means that any person who has access to an MS Teams channel where a news article from Linchpin is being shared to will be able to read the shared news teaser, including the news title and possibly other news elements like the author, the date or the excerpt. This is always true, even if a user doesn't have permissions to view the news article in Linchpin.
What happens to deleted or expired news?
News which were deleted or expired will not be deleted from the MS Teams channel.
Configuration
Navigate to Confluence administration → Linchpin → Enterprise News → MS Teams News Integration.
Click on the + Create channel mapping button. A configuration sidebar will open.
To successfully link Linchpin and MS Teams, you will need an MS Teams webhook. Please take a look at MS Teams documentation to learn how to create a webhook.
Name of the channel mapping
Enter a name for your channel mapping. This name won't be visible to your users, it's only relevant to you as an administrator. Choose whatever name suits your purposes.
Select what elements are displayed in MS Teams
In the Display the following news elements
section, you can decide how detailed or how simple a shared news teaser in MS Teams will look like.
Check or uncheck the boxes of elements you wish to include in the MS Teams news teaser.
MS Teams webhook
To enable the sync between Linchpin and MS Teams, you will have to create a MS Teams incoming webhook. Please take a look at the MS Teams webhook documentation to learn how to do it.
Once your webhook exists, paste its address into the MS Teams Webhook field.
Source configuration
Select which news (as in: from what sources) should be pushed to MS Teams.
Push all news to MS Teams
In the Source
section, select the All available news option.
If you wish to include news from personal spaces, make sure to activate the Include news from personal spaces checkbox.
Push specific news to MS Teams
In the Source
section, select the Combination of spaces, labels and news categories option. Then, click on the Edit button displayed below the option.
A new configuration window will open. Here you can define rules for the news sync. In concrete terms, this means that you can specify which news should be pushed to MS Teams or perhaps which news should be excluded from the sync.
Combining rules
The rules use two logical operators: AND
and OR
.
Logical operator: AND
Using the AND operators, you can combine multiple rules into one rule. This means that, should you combine rules via the AND operator, ALL criteria must be met for a news article to be pushed to MS Teams.
In our example, we combined 3 rules into one big rule using the AND operator. This rule would mean that news from the space News Washington (CNW)
should be pushed to MS Teams, but ONLY if they are of the Finance & Sales
category. Additionally, news which are labelled as bills
should not be included, even if they fit the other two criteria.
Logical operator: OR
Using the OR operators, you can create a set of rules which can trigger the news sync to MS Teams if ANY of the defined conditions are true. Sets of rules created with help of the OR operator follow the "EITHER set 1 OR set 2 OR set 3" (and so on) logic.
In our example, we have two sets of rules for the source of news which should be synced to MS Teams. News will be pushed to MS Teams when the news articles EITHER come from the News Washington (CNW)
space AND are of the Finance & Sales
category OR when they come from the News Washington (CNW)
space AND are labelled as Finances
.
Which conditions are connected to each other is also signaled by the background color.
Notice that in the screenshots, all conditions/rules which are connected by the AND operator and which form a single cohesive unit are connected by the gray background.
The OR operator interrupts the continious gray background, signaling that a new set of conditions begins.
