Menu Structure
After you have successfully installed the app, you can find the area Linchpin User Profiles in the Confluence Administration. There, you can find the Profile Editor, Profile Assistance, Profile Migration, Custom Landing Spaces, Org Chart, and Data Sources. To create a profile, click "Profile Editor".
Create Profile Categories and Profile Fields
In the app administration, you can create new profile categories and profile fields with a click of the mouse, and then move them into the order you want using drag and drop. What profile field options are there? In which form should a user enter their data?
User data can also be read from an existing user directory - you can change the configuration whenever you want to. If you want certain profile details to be mandatory, to make sure all users fill these out, you can define this for each profile field separately by simply activating the corresponding checkbox.
Profile categories and profile fields can be created and edited in the Profile Editor administration section. The first category is "Contact Area". There, three mandatory fields are highlighted in gray: phone number, instant messenger (Skype Business) and email address. Additional fields can be added from other profile categories by drag and drop. To do this, you need to add a new profile category.
Create a Profile Category
Click "Create a new profile category".
Enter the name of the profile category, for example Expertise. Click "Save".
You can see that the profile category "Expertise" has been created. You can now add Profile Fields to it.
Add a Profile Field
Click "Create new profile field" under the profile category.
The fields marked as mandatory need to be filled in, first, the name of the label, as in the example "Applications" below. Then select the field type - you can choose from different field types ranging from free text to a user selection. In this case we've chosen Multi-select. This means users can select multiple options.
Now you have added a new profile field.
You can add as many as you want.
When looking at their profile, users can now enter data for the three fields "Applications","Languages"and "Other" under the "Expertise" category.
