Defining categories for apps
Switch to "Launchpad Configuration" and select the tab "Categories" to define as many categories as you need for sorting your apps. The more apps you offer, the more categories you should define to make it easier for users to find what's important for them.
To delete a category, simply click the trashcan icon. A deleted category cannot be restored and has to be added again, if you deleted it by mistake.
You may also define sub categories, this let's you sort your apps even better!
Defining labels for apps
Switch to the tab "App Label" to define as many labels as you need for labeling your apps. Labels can be used to show special use cases for apps (e.g. "mobile"). One label can be displayed on the app tile.
To delete a label, simply click the trashcan icon. A deleted label cannot be restored and has to be added again, if you deleted it by mistake.
Additional Settings
Display Settings
Link to Launchpad | If your theme shows the standard Confluence application header, you'll find a new item "Launchpad" there. But maybe you already placed a list of apps or the users' favorite apps as macro on your dashboard or have other reasons for not wanting this link to show up there. In this case you'll find a checkbox on the "Settings" tab. Simply uncheck it, and the item inside the application header is gone. |
---|---|
Suggest App | Let your users suggest apps and configure which admins should be notified about it in order to check and publish the suggested app. |
App details | If you want new apps to be highlighted in principle in the Launchpad check the "mark as new" checkbox. You can decide per app if you want to use this feature. You may add a custom attribute to your app to provide further information. |

Bulk edit apps
You are able to select several apps in the overview and change them all at once.
- Select the to be edited apps
- Click the edit button on top or bottom of the table
After clicking the edit button, the bulk edit view appears.
On top there's a list of the selected apps. By clicking "Change selection" you can change them.
When clicking the "Change selection" button, your values filled in bulk edit view will be lost
You can set the values like you do for a single app. Some fields (like "Title" and "Link") are hidden.
Every input has a further checkbox on the left.
The values are only set for the selected apps, if the checkbox is checked.
If all apps share the same value for a field, it will be pre-filled with this value.
Personalizing apps (only available with the Linchpin Manager Plugin)
You may define mandatory and recommended apps, as well as configuring visibility of apps according to profile values.
Especially if you have a large number of users and apps, it's common that not all apps are equally important for every user. That's why we added the possibility to define recommend and mandatory apps, as well as general visibility only to certain users, based on their profile information. The first step to do this is to define, which profile fields are relevant. You can define up to three fields.
In a second step you define for each app, in which cases it should be shown as a recommended, mandatory app or if this app should only be visible for specific users. If you haven't configured any profile fields or leave them empty, the app will be recommended, mandatory or visible for every user.
In our example, all users who are member of the department "Marketing" will automatically have this app added to their "myApps" section (Mandatory app). Besides this, the app itself will be only visible if you are working in this or the financial department. Other users cannot see this app at the Launchpad.
You can use wildcards and logical operators for more complex filtering arguments. Please refer to the page Useful admin information for more information.
Translate apps (only available with the Linchpin Manager Plugin)
You can add a translation for each app and its app title, URL and description.
If you have a valid Linchpin Manager license, the single app configuration gives you the opportunity to translate certain app details (title, description, URL). Based on an user's locale, the app will be shown in the matching language, if a translation is available. If not, the default data will be used.
Open local applications (only available with IE)
This is not an official Launchpad feature. We do not support any changes within the Windows registry! Changes are done at own risk!
It is possible to open locale applications when using the Internet Explorer.
You have to create a registry file with the shown structure (in this case it's a MS Word example).
- Open a text editor, e.g. Notepad ++
- Insert the strcuture as shown above (remember to change "MS Word", "ms-word" and the URL depending on your application)
- Save as a registry file (".reg")
- Open file (you should receive a notification, that the registry has been changed)
- For testing: Open IE and enter e.g. ms-word://
→ Application opens - Create or Edit Launchpad App and insert e.g. ms-word:// as URL
Remove Completely
To remove all plugin data you have to execute the following SQL commands after uninstall (written for PSQL)
DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_USER_BOOKMARK"; DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_APP_TO_APP_LABEL"; DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_USER_APP_ORDER"; DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_APP_CATEGORY"; DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_APP_LABEL"; DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_CATEGORY"; DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_FILTER_ENTITY"; DROP TABLE "AO_2D0959_APP"; DELETE FROM bandana WHERE bandanacontext LIKE 'net.seibertmedia.confluence.appcenter%'; DELETE FROM bandana WHERE bandanakey LIKE 'net.seibertmedia.confluence.appcenter%'; DELETE FROM bandana WHERE bandanakey = 'AO_2D0959_#';

Problems with PostgreSQL
We noticed problems on installation with some upgrade tasks. If you are facing errors using the app after an update to 2.0 please try set a dark feature that might fix this.
To do so, follow these instructions
- open "<BASE_URL>/admin/darkfeatures.action"
- add the following key: "linchpin-launchpad.psql-fix-disabled"
- re-install the app
- No labels
