A step by step guide by Jan Kuntscher, Product Manager @ //SEIBERT/MEDIA
WELCOME
Introduction
We all love Confluence. Realtime collaboration editing, inline comments and @mentions are just a small selection of features that we use countless times every day.
Our customers especially love creating and editing pages. With the help of the versatile Confluence page editor, each user can decide for himself how he would like to prepare his information.
In this context, we repeatedly come across the following question: 'How can I create engaging Confluence pages?'
I am an absolute Confluence fan and in this step-by-step guide I will introduce you to how you can create the fantastic Confluence site above.
Let's briefly talk about the tools you need, cool sources of inspiration, and royalty-free images.
How to create engaging

Bravo! Your header is ready
Save the page and your header is ready. That looks good.
Next we take care of the navigation. Are you ready?
STEP 2
Navigation
Introduction
Good navigation is essential so that the reader can find his way around and access other content.
The navigation can be structured according to two different methods:
- Method 1 - Navigation for the page itself (using anchors)
- Method 2 - Navigation to other pages (using links)
The idea in this example is that this page functions as the start page or father page and that the individual cards link to other Confluence pages or child pages (method 2).
Add the macro 'Aura - Cards' under the Background Content macro from 1.5
Make the following settings in the 'General' tab:
- Columns: 4
- Design: Light Accent
- Hover Effect: Shrink
- Maring between cards: 0
- Padding inside cards: 6
- Full width of parent: on
Use and set Aura Cards as navigation points
Click on the first card in the right preview. The tab now changes to 'Content'. Here you can adapt the selected card to your wishes. You can add more cards in the interactive preview.
Settings:
- Title: Enter the desired title
- Link: Store the page to be linked
- Color: B01548
- Icon: Select the desired icon
Adjust the settings for each of the four cards.
Status Quo
The macro is configured and inserted as in the screenshot. On to the next step.
Navigation completed. This is the way!
Save the page and your navigation is ready. Fantastic!
Now comes the third and final step: the content
STEP 3
Content
Insert layout
Confluence offers so-called layouts with which content can be divided into columns. In this case I use it to minimize the distance between navigation and content. I know it sounds strange, but the Confluence Editor has its quirks...
Click on the 'Page Layout' button and then on the 'Add section' button.
Status Quo
You should now see two layout boxes (dashed frames) as in the screenshot.
We are now working in the second, still empty box. On to the next step.
Add the macro 'Aura - Background Content' to the second layout box from 3.1
Settings:
- Content Vertical Position: Center
- Minimum Height: 850
- Padding: 40
- Color Picker: FFFFFF (White) & opacity slider to 90
- Image: In the Web tab, insert the URL of the image stored here
Status Quo
The macro is configured and inserted as in the screenshot. On to the next step.
Add the macro 'Aura - Title' to the Background Content macro from 3.2
Settings:
- Font Weight: Light
- Text Alignment: Center
- Font Size: 16
- Select line height manually: on / 56
- Color: 525252
After you have inserted the macro, you can enter your desired text in the macro. I entered MOST WANTED.
Status Quo
The macro is configured and inserted as in the screenshot. On to the next step.
Add the macro 'Aura - Title' under the title from 3.3
Settings:
- Font Weight: Bold
- Text Alignment: Center
- Color: 000000
Status Quo
The macro is configured and inserted as in the screenshot. On to the next step.
Add the macro 'Aura - Divider' under the title from 3.4
Settings:
- Alignment: Center
- Full width: Off & then set Width to 90
- Color: B01548
After inserting, hit Enter to create a new line after the divider for the next macro.
Status Quo
The macro is configured and inserted as in the screenshot. On to the next step.
Add the macro 'Aura - Cards' under the divider from 3.5
Make the following settings in the 'General' tab:
- Card Type: Image
- Columns: 1
- Hover Effect: Shrink
- Image Position: Links
- Image Size: Slider to about 3/4
- Padding inside cards: 30
Click on the first card in the right preview. The tab now changes to 'Content'. Here you can adapt the selected card to your wishes and enter your content.
Status Quo
The macro is configured and inserted as in the screenshot. On to the next step.
